Dutch language dictionary, published in 1552 by Jan van de Werve, Councillor of Antwerp. This work can be considered as a precursor in this domain, it has been republished in Antwerp and subsequently in Delft (The Netherlands), because it was also used for teaching in schools. The author’s aim was to clean the Flemish language of popular words introduced since the period of the Dukes of Burgundy in trials and in the general legal language.

In Schilde, André Bosmans, empassionned by his region, presents The castle’s History and Schildehof Estate (map).

The newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen shows a picture of The funeral of Antwerp’s Governor Gaston van de Werve (1923).

During centuries, our family has granted the privilege to the villages of Vorselaar , Schilde and Lichtaart (all trhee in Antwerp province) to utilise our coat of arms as that of their parish.

The Schandpaal of Vorselaar is another witness of the involvment of the van de Werve’s in this municipality of the Antwerpian campine.
